This past June 21 Watari hosted a celebration for National Indigenous people’s day! Thank you to the workers, volunteers, and community for creating such a successful event.

We had a good couple of hundred people come through the park to enjoy the different performances and activities we had to offer. Thank you Grace for teaching the Medicine bag workshop, it was a great hit with the children who attended, they looked so happy and content with their outcome of their craft.

While everyone was feasting on the salmon and rice and fry bread, Grace shared a poem at the event and Byron Cruz Translated it in Spanish for the Latin American Spanish speakers that were in attendance. Very powerful and inspirational poetry from the both of them. Attached below is the poem read out.

John brought some drummers and singers and they performed for the gathering.

Our community was blessed tremendously with the Outstanding performance from all of the Watari Team. It was a very busy and extremely fun & magical day!

Thank you to everyone again for making this day possible and a success!
